My LOVE for SHOES: Where it all started

Not really the sea-of-shoe-esque type because I am a humble spender. And so, the flee market or Filipinos would call it "Ukay-ukay" is a haven for everybody looking for fashion, uniqueness and affordability like me.

When I was in college my Sunday afternoon route often includes a visit to the most crowded part of downtown Iligan, the Pala-o market where most broke students like me would scout for vintaged jeans, blouses and of course shoes.

The first shoe I bought was a velvet maroon shoes of unknown label. I haggled it from Php 250.00 down to Php 100.00. I always loved that shoe although it was about 3/4 inch larger than my shoe size.So I resorted to shoe pads just to make it fit. I love those shoes. It so durable that I wore it almost everyday in college even with paired it with my jeans.

That was also my office-attire-during-Mondays staple as an On-the-Job Trainee. I even wore it as my lucky charm to a declamation contest!

Oh yes, that was me in the pic. And yes, I have really bad taste then. Of course, who could blame me when that shoe was my one and only fab pair.

When I started to work, I finally earned much to buy myself a new one and so I gave up my favorite maroon velvet shoe. I came to realize that I look stupid on those shoes since its too large for me. I kinda look like Ronald McDonald. But despite that I have highly regarded that pair for a very long time.
